Lim Boon Seng and Teo Goh Eng, marriage February 1919, Penang
A pretty Chinese wedding took place at Fitzgerald Memorial Church, Penang, on Saturday, when Mr. Lim Boon Seng, of Messrs. Sen Joo Liong and Co., richer merchants, Beach Street, was married to Miss Teo Goh Eng of Nind Home, Singapore. The Rev. Robert F. Thomas officiated. Miss N. I. Moore presided at the organ and Mrs. Webber played the cello. The bride looked charming in a pink silk Shanghai dress and she carried a shower bouquet of exquisite white flowers and blossoms attractively prepared and presented by Miss Bruce, Principal of the Anglo-Chinese Girls' School, who led the bride to the altar and acted as the bridesmaid. The bride was attended by two small Chinese girls, who looked very sweet in their pink silk Chinese costumes, each of them with a handkerchied in one hand and a flower basket in the other. Mr. Chee Eng, one of the assistant masters of the Penang Free School, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Miss Bruce. Among those present were Rev. Robert F. Thomas, Mrs. Webber, Misses Bunce More Craven, Choon Neo, Sarah Jacob, Violet Van Burley, Lena Lily, Dora Jacob, Messrs Khoo Cheng Hoe, Maithurai, Tao, Teik Sim, Bok Pin, Kim Huatt, and many others. A number of wedding presents were received.[The Straits Times, 26 February 1919, Page 8]
