News has reached Penang of the death of Mr. Tye Keat Kwong, son of the late Mr. Tye Kee Yoon, Chinese Consul in Penang for many years. He was pursuing his studies in America whence the news of his death was received.

The engagement is announced, says the Straits Echo, of Mr. Tye Khek Kwang, son of Mr. Tye Kee Yoon, of Penang, and Miss Lew, eldest daughter of his Excellency Lew Yuk-lin, late Chinese Ambassador to the Court of St. James, London. The wedding will take place in Macao, China, where the bride and her parents are now living. Miss Lew is an accomplished young lady and was educated in England. She passed through Penang with her father a few months ago on their way home.

The death occurred at Penang, of Mrs. Tye Kee Yoon (Khoo Lye Neoh) on Sunday last, at her residence, 50 Gladstone Road. The funeral is arranged to take place on Saturday, 19th inst.
