Lee Cheng Wee, death August 1879, Singapore
The funeral of Mr Lee Cheng Wee took place yesterday, and the day being Sunday it was attended by almost all the leading Chinese residents of Singapore. To show the influential connection of the deceased it may be mentioned that he was the elder brother of Mr Lee Cheng Yan, a son-in-law of the late Mr Tan Kim Seng and therefore the uncle of Mr Tan Jiak Kim. He was not much known in commercial circles lately, as he had retired from business some time ago. [The Singapore Free Press and Mercantile Advertiser (1884-1942), 23 August 1897, Page 1]
