Ipoh, May 22. The remains of the late Mr. Chung Ah Ming, who died in his residence at Gopeng Road yesterday, will be conveyed to Penang for interment at the family burial ground. TZhe funeral will be held here on Friday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the cortege will leave for Penang. As a mark of respect, the inter-state lawn tennis match between Perak and Selangor, which was to have been played this week has been postponed. There was a large gathering at the funeral of Mr. Chung Ah Ming, former Federal Councillor and an outstanding Perak sportsman, of Ipoh, whose remains were interred at the family burial ground in Mount Erskine today. Hundreds of wreaths and many scrolls were received. Among those at the graveside were Raja Kamaralzaman, representing the Sultan of Perak, and Mr Chung Min Sen, representing the Perak Lawn Tennis Association. Penang, Oct.21 : Mr. Chung Ah Yong, of Taiping, died at his residence in Church Street, Penang. [Mr. Chung Ah Yong was one of the most popular residents of Taiping, where he resided for several years. As a sportsman he was very well-known, having for years owned and raced in the F.M.S. and Straits some of the best horse-flesh in the country. The funeral of the late Towkay Chung Ah Yong, of Perak, says the Penang Gazette, took place at the family burial ground at Mount Erskine, Penang, and was largely attended, including his friends from Taiping and Ipoh who had specially come down on the evening previous for the occasion. The Town Band was in attendance. As a token of the esteem in which he was held both here and in Perak there were two rikishas full of wreaths, besides those on the coffin. Chung Lean-Yin and Lim Yin Weng, Marriage, Penang, 1906
The marriage ceremony of Miss Chung Lean Yin, a younger sister of Mr Chung Ah Yong, to Mr Lim Yin Weng was celebrated on the 3rd inst. on a very grand scale at the palatial residence of Mr. Chung Thye Chong, in Church Street, Penang, which was a scene of gay festivity, the numerous friends of Mr. Ah Chong, the brother of the bride, being invited to celebrate the occasion and responding right willingly. The hall and dining rooms were lighted by electricity, while the tropical atmosphere was kept within bounds by electric fans, the plant being installed by Messrs Howarth Erskine & Co., the well-known electrical engineers. Chung Say-Hun, Death, Taiping, 1906
Miss Chung Say Hun, aged 18, the second daughter of Mr Chung Ah Yong, of Taiping, died of typhoid fever on Tuesday. The poor young lady had nursed her younger brother during an attack of typhoid from which he is now recovering. Seventeen days ago she fell ill herself, and not till within the last few days was it realised that she had been infected and was suffering from the same dire disease as her brother. A marriage has been arranged and will take place in Penang on the 11th inst. between a young Chinaman of that town, named Teoh Beow Suan, and the eldest daughter of our sporting fellow townsman Chung Ah Yong. The marriage took place at Penang on Thursday in the Old Chinese style and on an elaborate scale of Mr Oh Eng Hong, son of the United Traders, Limited, youngest son of the late Mr Oh Kean Hoe and youngest brother of Mr Oh Eng Leong of the same firm, and Miss Chung Gaik Im, youngest daughter of the late Mr Chung Ah Yong and Mrs Chung Ah Yong, and youngest sister of Messts Chung Ah Ming, Chung Chee Choong, Chung Ah Kee, Chung Ah Woh, Chung Chee Leng and Chung Ah Keoh.
