Albert Charles Moses Westwood, death 12 August 1908, Vepery
The friends of Mr. Albert Charles Moses Westwood, formerly Chief Clerk, Penang Prisons, will regret to hear that he died after twelve hours' illness of cholera at Vepery, Madras, on the 12th ult. He was born on September 15, 1864, inTrispassore, Madras Presidency, and was the son of the late Mr. James Westwood, Assistant Surgeon. After leaving school, he became a clerk in the Madras Railway. Later on, coming to Penang, he joined in May, 1886, the Clerical Department of the Government Service in which he rose to be Chief Clerk, Prisons, but was obliged to retire on the 11th July, 1896, owing to ill-health. Chia Giok Kiat (Mrs. Lim Saing), death September 1908
The funeral of the late Mrs. Lim Saing (nee Chia Giok Kiat Neoh), whose death occurred at 40, Muntri Street Penang, on Monday of last week, was to take place, in the "reform" style, on Sunday morning, at Mount Erskine, Penang. The deceased, who was the mother of the late Mr. Lim Kek Chuan, was about 76 years of age, and left a large family, representing several generations, to mourn her loss. Chung Say-Hun, Death, Taiping, 1906
Miss Chung Say Hun, aged 18, the second daughter of Mr Chung Ah Yong, of Taiping, died of typhoid fever on Tuesday. The poor young lady had nursed her younger brother during an attack of typhoid from which he is now recovering. Seventeen days ago she fell ill herself, and not till within the last few days was it realised that she had been infected and was suffering from the same dire disease as her brother.
