Over 400 guests attended the celebrations connected with the marriage of Mr. Lim Chong Kuo, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lim Nee Soon, with Miss Tan Layho, second daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Tan Kah Kee, at the Garden Club, Tanah Merah, on Saturday afternoon. Among those present were Mahor Wee Tiong Ham and family, Mr. Low Peng Yam, Mr. Low Peng Soy, Mr. Lian Chia Heng, Mr. Khoo Yang Kin, Mr. Khoo Koh Wah, Mr. Oei Teck Seng, Mr. Tan Keng Tng, Dr. Chong Chee Hai, Dr. S.C. Yin, Dr. H.L.H. Lim, Dr. A.J.H. Lim, Dr. Chan Soo Lan, Dr. H.T. Wee, Dr. Lim Han Hoe, Mr. A.J. Abraham, Mr. K. Bon, Mr. K. Siffles (Jr.), Mr. C.T. van Derlee, Mr. R.O.H. Law and Mrs. Law, Mr. and Mrs. John Green, Mr. E.G. Collier, Mr. J.V. Riera, S.K. Tsai, Mr. W.L. Watkins, Mr. F.G. The Club was tastefully decorated and the garden nicely laid out. The Alhambra orchestra was present throughout the afternoon. The ceremony, which was performed according to the reform customs, was over in less than half-an-hour, and during the rest of the evening the guests gave themselves up to enjoyment. Dr. Yin made a speech on behalf of the guests, congratulating the newly married couple and wishing them the best of luck. The bridegroom responded, and the bestman, Mr. Lim Chong Pang, the bridegroom's brother, also said a few words on behalf of the bridesmaids.
The numerous presents received included gifts from Gen. Shen Chiung Ming, Canton, and his brother officers, H.E. Chan Kuo Kan, Minister of Education, Pekin, H. E. Kian Tien Toh, Minister of Agriculture and Commerce, Pekin, and Dr. Lim Boon Keng, O.B.E. These gifts were in the form of handsome silver cups engraved with Chinese designs, and they were accompanied by congratulatory scrolls. The presents only arrived yesterday morning, and many telegrams containing messages of congratulations were received from friends outside the Colony.
