We beg to announce with very deep regret the death of Mr Puey Eng Hong, which took place at 4 pm yesterday at his residence No 130 Neil Road. Mr Eng Hong had been ailing for from heart disease for some time. He was 54 years of age and was well known among the Chinese community. The deceased gentleman was head of the Pueys in Singapore, and was senior Partner in the firm of Messrs Ong Sam Leong and Co., General Contractors of the Christmas Island Phosphate Co., Ltd., and was also partner in the firm of Eng Hong, Sam Leong and Co., chop Wan Lee, Steam Saw-Mills and timber merchants. He was President of the well-known Bun Chye Hoe Club. Mr Eng Hong was a very smart business man. Great sympathy is felt for his widow, children and grand children in their bereavement. The son, Mr Puey Yen Chuan, and family of the late Mr. Puey Eng Hong beg to thank the many friends and relatives of the deceased who so kindly attended the funeral and sent letters of condolence.
