Ong Bean Wan, death November 1934, Penang
DEATH OF MR. ONG BEAN WAN. Well-Known Taiping Chinese. Taiping Nov 25. The death took place in Penang on Friday of Mr Ong Bean Wan, aged 53, a respected and well-known Chinese of Taiping. Of a kind and charitable disposition, Mr. Bean Wan did considerable public service in this town, being vice-president of the Hokkien Hoey Kuan, Taiping, treasurer of the Siew Chay School and Taiping Motor Service Association ; Auditor, Thye Guan Tong ; and a committee member of Chin Hua public school, Sundry Goods Association, Chinese Dramatic Association, and Chee Min school, Taiping. He was the second son of the late Towkay Ong Khye Pang, founder of Messrs, Khye Guan Gompany, one of the oldest established firms in the town. His favourite hobby was wireless. He leaves his widow, five sons and three daughters. As a mark of repect, the firm of Messrs. Khye Guan, Taiping, will be closed on the date of his funeral, one day next week.
