Horace Rice, death June 1939, Penang

Penang June 23. The funeral of Mr Horace Rice, until recently storekeeper of the Eastern Smelting Co., Ltd., took place yesterday evening. Mr. Rice died after a long illness. He was one of those who were severely burrned by a sulphuric acid explosion which occurred at the smelting works in March 1933. He served 15 years with the company. The funeral was well attended. 1. Hi Jeff,
Thanks for this information. Do you have any additional information about this man or can you guide me on how to retrieve further information about late Mr Horace Rice?

  2. Dear adyskid

This is the only information that I have on this person.

You could write to the current incarnation of the company but I do not know if records still exist - much was destroyed during the Japanese Occupation during WWII - or if anyone can find them.

    Hope that helps.

  3. Hi Jeff,
Thanks for everything. I guess I need to search at National Archives.
Btw, he is my great grandfather.
