Lim Paik Joo (Mrs. Gunn Lay Teik), death September 1925, Penang

PENANG NEWS.

Penang, September 18. 

The death has occurred of Mrs. Gunn Lay Teck, daughter of Mr. Lim Cheng Teik. after a short illness. Deceased was married a few years ago. The funeral will take place on Sunday.

The death took place last week at Limburg, Penang, of the wife of Mr. Gunn Lay Teik, B.Sc. (Lond.), of the F.M.S. Agricultural Department. The deceased was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lim Cheng Teik, well-known residents of Penang, and was married in May last. She was living with her husband in Kuala Lumpur till recently. After the Malayan Agri-Horticultural Show she became ill, and was removed to Penang. Medical aid was secured from Singapore and Deli, without avail. The funeral took place at Penang on Sunday and was largely attended.

Death from Bronchitis At Age of 83.  The death took place this morning from bronchitis of Mrs. Phua Hin Loong, at the age of 83. Mrs. Phua Hin Loong, who was well known as a benefactress, and philantrophist, was the mother of Mr. Lim Cheng Ean, the Legislative Councillor, Mr. Lim Cheng Teik, Mr. Lim Cheng Law, Mr Lim Cheng Kung, four other sons and five daughters.  [The Straits Times, 18 February 1932, Page 12 MRS. The marriage of Mr. Gunn Lay Teik, B.Sc. (London), son of the late Mr. Gunn Tong Eang, and younger brother of Mr. Gunn Lay Cheang, and Miss Lim Paik Joo only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lim Cheng Teik, of Limburg, Larut Road, Penang, was celebrated at the residences of the bride and bridegroom, according to Chinese custom.
