Khoo Saw Tin Neoh (Mrs Lee Bian Tiong), death 3 November 1935

The death of Mrs Lee Bian Tiong nee Khoo Saw Tin Neoh, at the age of 69 years took place on Sunday night at her residence at Acheen Street, Penang. She was the second daughter of the late Mr Khoo Tiong Phoe, who did a large trade in the olden days and owned several ships plying between Penang and China ports, among which were the famous Chiang Nock Kean and Chiang Hye Teng. She was the mother of Messrs Lee Eng Chuan, Eng Hoe and Eng Tat and the mother-in-law of the Hon. Mr Khoo Sian Ewe, and Messrs Khor Toon Hooi, Lim Khong Cheang and Saw Chin Chye. Khoo Tiong Poh, death 1892, Penang

The Late Mr. Khoo Tiong Poh. The death took place last night of Mr. Khoo Tiong Poh the senior partner in the prominent shipping firm of Bun Hin and Co. Deceased who has been ailing for some time was known to be in a serious condition, so that a fatal result to his illness was not altogether unexpected by his friends. Mr. Tiang Poh, a native of China, was a man about 62 years of age, and having been connected with Singapore for about 40 years was well known in shipping and commercial circles as having established the firm of which he was the senior partner, which has office branches in Penang, Hongkong, and Amoy. The deceased leaves behind him eight sons. The funeral will take place in Penang, and it is expected that the body will leave Singapore at an early date, possibly by the s.s. Cheang Chew. The Cheang Chew, with the remains of the late Mr. Khoo Tiong Poh, left for Penang yesterday evening. The interment, however, will not take place until after the marriage of Khoo Ghin Yew, a son of the deceased. The funeral of the late Mr. Khoo Tiong Poh took place at Penang on the morning of the 4th instant. It was a grand and imposing affair, the procession being the longest that has taken place there. The canopy over the coffin, which came from Shanghai was the richest and grandest ever seen in Penang. The total expense of that day alone is estimated at $20,000.
